Seagate SSD uses supercapacitors for data protection
Monday, 12 July 2010
Seagate Pulsar series SSDs (Solid State Drive) feature Power Loss Protection through the integration of a supercapacitor inside the drive. Pulsar’s data architecture is designed for integrity and protection, enabling customers to use Pulsar with the write cache enabled for maximum performance without worry.
Ultracapacitors are being used as an integrated backup power supply solution on the drive itself in case of sudden loss of power. This will provide enough power for SSD controller to safely write the cached data to memory and prevent data loss. |
